  • 2 cupall-purpose flour
  • 2 tspbaking powder
  • 0.5 tspsalt
  • cupshortening (quantity not legible — approximately 1 cup)
  • 1.5 cupbrown sugar
  • 2eggs, well beaten
  • 2 tspvanilla extract
  • cuprolled oats (quantity not legible — referenced in directions)
  • 1.5 cupcorn flakes
  • 1 cupdates, chopped (or raisins)
  • 0.5 cupshredded coconut
  • 0.25 cupchopped maraschino cherries
  1. 1Sift flour, measure and add baking powder and salt. Sift again.
  2. 2Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, beat until light.
  3. 3Add well-beaten eggs and vanilla.
  4. 4Add flour mixture gradually, then stir in rolled oats, dates, coconut, and cherries.
  5. 5Lastly, lightly stir in corn flakes.
  6. 6Drop by 2-teaspoon portions onto ungreased cookie sheets (lining with foil is recommended).
  7. 7Bake at 375°F for about 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
